Is your aquarium ready for fish?

This checklist turns a vague “the tank looks fine” into specific questions. It does not calculate safe stocking: adult size, behaviour, filtration and water chemistry are too species-specific for a simple fish-per-gallon rule. Use the result to identify work still needed before purchase.

How to use the result

Zero ammonia and nitrite are important checks, but a single test is not proof that the biological filter is established.
